Neighborhood guide

Find your New Orleans

The city's character changes block by block. Grouping each day by neighborhood saves travel time and gives you space to notice what makes each area distinct.

French Quarter

Best for historic architecture, classic first-visit sights, galleries and a dense concentration of food and music. Visit early for calmer streets, then return selectively for nightlife.

Marigny

Best for colorful streets and live-music options near Frenchmen Street. Check venue schedules and cover policies rather than assuming every room fits every traveler.

Tremé

Central to the city's Black cultural history, music and social traditions. Choose locally led cultural experiences and approach residential blocks respectfully.

Garden District and Uptown

Best for live-oak streets, architecture, Magazine Street and a classic streetcar ride. It is a living neighborhood, so admire homes from public sidewalks.

Mid-City

Best for City Park, neighborhood restaurants and a less hurried day. It pairs well with museum time, outdoor space or a Canal streetcar ride.

Warehouse District

Best for major museums, contemporary art, restaurants and easy access to the downtown riverfront. Allow extra time for the National WWII Museum rather than squeezing it between stops.
